With the school year coming to an end, I’ve got a fun little teacher gift idea for you. At my local craft store I found this cute little mini clipboard and thought it would be perfect for a teacher. And, when I saw Ali Folendore’s Teacher’s Pet Kit in the store, I knew I had to use it on this project!
I started by measuring the clipboard and found that it measured 4 x 6.25” so I opened a blank page of that size in my photo editing/design program. I designed a background to cover the back of the clipboard using Ali’s digital papers and embellishments, printed it and cut it out. I adhered the paper to the front of the clipboard and used a file to go around the edges to get rid of excess paper and make the edges clean (sandpaper works well too). I decided to cover the metal clip on the clipboard also so I turned the clipboard upside down onto printed pattern paper and traced the shape of the clip onto the pattern paper and cut it out. I adhered the paper to the metal clip and again used a file to go around the edges to get rid of the excess paper.
I found that 3 x 5” index cards fit perfectly on this size clipboard so I opened up a 3 x 5” document in my program and designed the document with the teacher’s name at the top and also add a digital sticker from Ali’s kit at the bottom. I loaded index cards into my printer and printed out 20 to put on the clipboard.
As a little something extra, I got a pen with a clear barrel, took out the middle of the pen measured the length and rolled up a small piece of digital paper that I printed from Ali’s kit to insert into the barrel. I then put the middle (ink) of the pen back in to make a matching pen to add to the set.
With everything finished, I put the pen with the clipboard and wrapped a ribbon around them both to make a little gift. Hope she likes it!
