Need to separate alphas/elements from a single sheet?
Don’t want excess transparency remaining?
This tutorial will show you how to mimic the “Trim” feature in PS.
Open your alpha/element sheet.

Select the Marquee Tool.
“Shape proportions” unchecked.

Left click and drag to select the letter/element you need.

Select “Invert” on the Marquee Palette

The marching ants will appear around the section you don’t need.

Select “Invert” again.
The marching ants will now fit snugly around the alpha/element.
Select Edit/Copy
Select File/New
The new document will be the correct size so click “Done”.
Select the Object Tool
Right click on the new canvas and “Paste”
The “trimmed” alpha/element is now ready to be saved as PNG.
Alternately, you can open a layout and Right click/Paste directly onto it.
