ELEMENT: Making Stickers

Start with a new image 300ppi and any size where the image you want to turn into a sticker will fit on with a little room to spare.

I am using a preset shape of a flower with leaves as my sticker element. Drag out your shape, it will be created as a vector but this will work with any image you have. Use your selection tool to select the image. Selections>modify>expand your selection by about 10-15 pixels. You might even want to create a slight feather of about 2 pixels, just to smooth the edges this will depend on the image you started with.
Now create a new layer, select white for the color in the materials palette and with the new layer your active layer using the bucket fill tool click inside the marching ants to apply your white fill.
Now move the new layer below your colored sticker image layer, you will see that the white area sticks out beyond the edges of your element and creates the white edge of a sticker.

Now using your Inner Bevel lets add some dimension to the edges of the white area. You can adjust the inner bevel shadow by adjusting the angle. The settings I used are in the image below, once you have adjusted your settings go ahead and click that little blue icon and save this as your very own preset to use time and again!!

If you want you can add a drop shadow to your sticker just to give it more of a “stand out” on your page effect. I always create my drop shadows on a new layer that way I can adjust it or delete it if I don’t like it later.

Now for a sticker this vector clip art looks pretty good with its simple lines and colors. But we can adjust all of this also with another native effect in PSP.

Using your selection tool, select certain areas of color you wish to change. I am going to select the black outline and bucket fill with white, then I am going to add an inner bevel to it.

I am just going to continue to select different areas and add inner bevels to change the look of the sticker element.

Here I selected the parts of the petals and then the center

I think you get the idea of how you can change it by adjusting the bevel colors.

Finished sticker!
