PROGRAM BASIC: Creating a QuickPage

QuickPages are known by many names including pagebyte, pre-made layouts, page template and more. They are pages that have been designed to allow the user to quickly create a layout by adding photos and journaling to personalise the page. They are a terrific tool for new digital scrappers and busy scrappers alike.
Creating a QuickPage is no different from creating any layout, however the layout must remain in layered form until it is complete, so that it can be merged in stages.
Instead of including photos, use a white or contrasting color block to represent where photos would go, and do not include any titles or journaling unless specifically desired.
Add any shadows as appropriate to the papers and elements.

With the layout design complete, begin by identifying the first photo marker starting from the first layer. I have named the layers in this layout to assist with the tutorial. As you can see the first photomarker is on the left. Underneath lies layers that contains papers and ribbons.

Use CTRL+ click to select all of the layers below the photomarker. Right click on one of the highlighted layers and choose Merge layers. All of the layers beneath the photo marker will now be flattened.

CTRL+ Click on the Photo marker Layer to obtain a selection of the shape. With the selection still active, choose the merged layer beneath and press Delete on your keyboard. You will see that the flattened layer now has a hole in it.

Use CTRL+D to get rid of the “marching ants” selection and then delete the photo marker layer.

For the second photomarker, select the layers beneath and merge the layers.

CTRL + click on the photo marker layer to create the selection. With the selection still active, select the merged layer and press Delete on your keyboard. Use CTRL+D to deselect and then delete the photo marker layer.

Repeat the same steps should you have any more photo areas to delete.
When each of the photo marker areas have been deleted, right click on any visible layer and choose Merge layers. Using Merge Layers instead of flatten layers retains the transparency. Delete any extra hidden layers, to help with file size reduction.

Finally File> Save As. Browse to the location you wish to save it, name the file and then from the File Type drop down menu select PNG as the file type. This will ensure the spaces that have been deleted will remain transparent when opened in any program that is compatible with the PNG file type.
Select Save.

Select None and click OK at the PNG options dialog

How to Use a QuickPage
Open the QuickPage to your workspace. (File> Open> Browse>select>Open)
Drag your photo of choice onto the workspace and place it approximately over the photo are you wish to fill.

Drag the photo under the QuickPage layer on the layers palette

With the photo layer selected, choose the Move Tool and check Show Transform Tools on the Options Bar or use CTRL+T and resize and move the photo into the position you desire.

In this case part of the photo shows underneath the other framed photo area.
You can easily delete this area by using the freehand or eraser tool to discard the section.
Repeat with any additional photo places.

If you don’t have enough photos for each space, consider filling the space with paper and/or using it for a journaling area.
Add text and journaling as desired.

You can even personalise a quickpage by adding extra elements to the design.
