There maybe instances when you would like to send someone a complete layout you have created, or you want to offer a freebie on your blog but the file size is just too large for emailing. File transfer sites are perfect for this. They allow you to upload your file to a secure storage area and then you can provide the link to your friends or family to download it.
There are several file transfer websites offering these services. They are free to use, though you can purchase memberships for member benefits. This tutorial will look at just two of the most commonly used.
***PLEASE NOTE: Digital Piracy is a crime! These sites are not intended to allow you to redistribute copyright materials including digital scrapbooking products. The sites have an Anti-Piracy policy and should it be discovered that you are using it for circumventing copyright the links will be withdrawn and your accounts will be cancelled**

www.YouSendIt.com

Click on Sign Up and choose the Free Option and go through the registration process. The Lite account is Free and allows you to:
Send files up to 100 MB with a 1 GB monthly download limit.
Allow up to 100 downloads of every file.
Files remain available for 7 days .

When you are logged into your account, choose the Send Tab
Enter the recipients email address if you are just sending it to an exclusive group of family or friends otherwise enter your own email address, add a subject and message and then browse to upload the file.
Hit Send It

The file will then begin to upload and you can monitor its progress.

When the upload is complete, you receive a message like that shown below

The download link given at the bottom of the screen is the link you would use to post a link to the file on your blog for example. This allows whomever has been given the link (copy and paste) the ability to download the file.
If you need more help or information click on the Help or FAQ links

www.4shared.com

Sign Up using the link at top right.
Again you can select from a number of plans, the Free Plan http://www.4shared.com/features.jsp offers 5GB storage space. You must log in every 30 days to keep your account active.
Once you have registered the screen opens up to your own personal “virtual drive”

Click On My Account in the top right hand corner, go to the Edit Info tag and deselect Allow to show my files in public search results – this stops anyone being able to search for files and prevent piracy. They must have the direct link to download the file.

Next, click on Deactivate where its shows the Current Folder Sharing Link this will mean that the contents of the folder will not be accessible through a single link and helps prevent piracy. The button will turn green and the link will be grayed out.

Use the Browse button in the bottom left corner to find your file and then select Upload.

The Upload process begins. When it is complete the file is listed in the file area. Click on the file name.

You can change the file description if desired (press save).
Copy the link in the Download Link box. This link is the one that you will share or give to those you want to access the file, so paste it into a txt file or document or other location.

To allow others to access the file provide them with the link. The link will lead them to the download page.

You can delete, rename and more with your files. You can also create a secure folder for downloads that will require a password to access.
If you need more help or information click n the Help or FAQ links
