Top 11 Tips for Digi Scrapping ACDSee Users
1. Drop and Drag
You can drag and drop images from ACDSee into any program that supports drag and drop like Photoshop or Digital Image Pro
2. Change your default Photo Editor
Nominate your default editor (such as Photoshop) to be able to right click the file in ACDSee and launch your editing program.
Tools> Open in Editor> Configure Editor and Browse to locate your program and set as the default editor.
3. Change your default location
Nominate the folder where your element collection is kept to save navigating to it each time you open ACDSee.
Tools> Options> Browser
4. Check your Filter settings
If it suddenly seems that all of your files have disappeared, check your Filter By settings and make sure Filter By> All is selected.
5. Use ACDSee as a Font Viewer/Organiser
You can view, and tag, your font files in ACDSee. Choose Tools> File Associations and select ttf from the file list
6. Back Up your Database
Don’t let all your hard work cataloging go down the drain – back up quickly and easily by selecting Database > Back Up Database. To backup your catalogue information choose one of the first three options and then follow the prompts.
7. Quick Search
Choose Quick Search > Set Options and ensure Include file names is selected. This will allow you to use the information in filenames to search with. Type in a single word, such as a designers’ name, or a combination of descriptors, to find files fast.
8. Drag and Drop Cataloguing
Select multiple files of the same element type, and drag and drop the appropriate category from the organising pane onto them
9. Simplify Your View
Use Filter By:> Advanced Filters to exclude unnecessary thumbs icons, txt files and other extraneous files when viewing your element folders.
10. Show Favoritism
Nominate the elements you use over and over again as your favorites by right clicking on the file and choosing Add to Favorites. Access all your favorites quickly and easily by choosing the Favorites tab on the view pane.
11. Use the Image Basket to Track your Credits
Open the Image basket View> Image basket and as you use elements drag them into the Image Basket pane.
When you have finished with your layout, delete any elements you didn’t use from your basket and then select all the files in the Image basket and go to Database> Export> Generate File Listing
This creates a notepad txt file listing all the files used in your layout
