Weave It!

Open a new canvas.
Add the first ribbon and place vertically.
Add a shadow.
Duplicate numerous times and roughly space them out across the canvas.
(After some practice you can space them closer for a tighter weave.)

Go to Edit/Select All.
Go to Format/Align Objects/Space Horizontally.
Group them together.

Add the second ribbon and place horizontally.
Add a shadow.
Duplicate the same amount as the vertical ribbon and roughly space them down the canvas.

Select all horizontal ribbons then:
Format/Align Multiple Objects/Space Vertically.
Group them together.

With the BOTTOM layer selected:
Click on the Marquee Tool , select the square shape and UNCHECK “Shape proportions”
Make sure you select “Add to current selection” as your Selection Mode.

You are going to mark out the sections that will be the top weave.

Mark out the first crossover in the first line:

Miss the next crossover and mark out the third one.

Continue marking out alternate crossovers until your reach the end.

On the next row, mark out the alternate crossovers.

Continue as above until you have selected all necessary crossovers.

Go to Edit/Cut

Go to Edit/Paste

Click on the Object Tool

On the Stack, left click and drag the top layer to the bottom.

Lock all layers together.

Experiment with different types of weaves.
