A quick guide to using layered templates in PSE
*Papers and elements used in this tutorial are from Meredith Fenwick’s ‘Season’s of Life’ kit
*Template is a freebie from Misty Cato – it, and her other templates can be found in the SBB store
Start by opening your template in PSE

With your template open, select your first layer – I’ll start with the background. I’ve opened up the paper I want to use as my background and select all [Ctrl A] and copy [Ctrl C] - back in my template file I [Ctrl V] to paste in my background as a new layer. Because these 2 layers are already the same size and shape, I then merged the layer down. [Ctrl E]
Next I want to start filling in the other paper pieces. Open the paper(s) you want to use. Select all and copy the next paper. Select the layer you want to replace and Ctrl V to paste in the paper. [Ctrl G] will make the paper assume the size and shape of the layer beneath it .

I generally do this for each layer – then when I’m sure I’m happy with it, I go back and merge the papers and template layers.
After you Ctrl G, if there is an area of the paper you would prefer showing, say a distressed edge, you can move the paper around before merging. See example below:

I’ve continued this process for all papers

Now just add journaling and embellishments. It’s really that easy!
